While a visit to a ‘death cafe’ may not sound that appealing, they are certainly experiencing an increase in popularity  – so what exactly are they? Death cafes provide a comfortable environment in which people can talk openly about the sometimes uncomfortable subject of death.

Some of these meetings are now starting to return to the face-to-face format, while others are continuing online via zoom or facebook for the moment.

Having the opportunity to speak about death related issues in a friendly, open environment can help to reduce fears and anxieties.  Reducing these anxieties can also have a positive impact on general wellbeing.

How can I help someone to do this?

You could help someone to search for a death cafe meeting. If they are not already registered with the necessary website or application, you could help them get set up.
